The Navasota Kiwanis are sponsoring their first 'Blues Capital of Texas 5K & Fun Run' on Aug. 13 in Navasota, the Blues Capital of Texas. The race is part of Blues Fest weekend.

About the Blues Capital 5K

The inaugural Blues Capital of Texas 5K and 1-mile Fun Run will be on the same weekend as the Navasota Blues Fest. The Texas State Legislature dubbed Navasota the "Blues Capital of Texas" in 2005 and this race will accompany the already-popular Blues Fest the weekend of Aug. 12-13. There is plenty of parking, and parking is FREE. Come enjoy beautiful Navasota and see why we're the Blues Capital of Texas.

Race Time and Day

The race will be:

5K Race — 8 a.m.
1-mile Fun Run — 8:15 a.m.

Who this Benefits

The Navasota Kiwanis are sponsoring the race. The Navasota Kiwanis Club gives back to local youth in Navasota and Grimes County. Although the majority of the Kiwanis proceeds go to the local Boy Scouts of America, the Kiwanis also give away scholarships and help fund activities and projects for underprivileged youth.


Awards will be given to the top three males and top three females in 8 different age groups. The top three overall males and females will be awarded medals.
